Program Outline

Topic 1: What Is Design Thinking?

  • Understand the core principles, stages, and value of Design Thinking.
  • Recognize wicked problems and how Design Thinking reframes them into opportunities.
  • Apply a simple 3-step facilitation flow to guide their teams through the process.
  • Reflect on how Design Thinking can improve problem-solving in their own context.

Topic 2: How to Build Empathy

  • Use empathy tools (interviews, observations, journey insights) to uncover real user needs.
  • Conduct effective empathy interviews and basic ethnographic research.
  • Translate user stories into actionable insights to guide problem framing.
  • Engage in a practical empathy-building activity for their real users.

Topic 3: How to Define the Problem

  • Cluster insights using Affinity Mapping and convert them into clear themes.
  • Build Personas and Empathy Maps that represent user motivations and pain points.
  • Craft sharp Point of View (POV) statements and “How Might We” problem frames.
  • Map key stakeholders to understand influence and alignment needs.

Topic 4: How to Ideate for Solutions

  • Prepare and facilitate divergent–convergent ideation sessions.
  • Use high-impact ideation techniques such as Brainstorming, SCAMPER, and Analogies.
  • Select the best ideas using dot voting and structured evaluation.

Topic 5: Prototyping & Testing Your Ideas

  • Create low-fidelity prototypes quickly (sketches, storyboards, paper models).
  • Validate feasibility and viability before investing in solution through Lean start up and Minimum viable approaches
  • Conduct simple usability tests and gather meaningful user feedback.
